LUCIA ANNA RITA SALVATORE

MARVIN KACULINI

As Bob’s student I’d like to take the opportunity to thank him for the  enthusiasm and professionalism he conveys. The method he applies is excellent.

SOIZIC VASSEUR

Thanks, Bob, for the ability and passion you put in your work. A very good mix of conversation, phonetics, and intercultural knowledge;  never boring.

FRANCESCA METRANGOLO

“At the Movies with Bob” is great! I really appreciated the method. Bob is very professional and highly capable. His lessons are never boring.
I would like to thank him and I hope to continue to follow his courses!

FRANCESCO SABBIONI

“At the movies with Bob” is the best English learning method that I know and I have experienced. I would highly recommend this approach to anyone is looking for something beyond the usual methods based on grammar rules and exercises. So, choose your movies and enjoy this experience.
Thanks Bob!

LIVIO PETRONE

Ottimo metodo!

ROBERTO CESARI

At the movies with Bob’ is not a well-known method for most people (Bob you’ve patent it, right?) but it has proven to be successful in helping me understand spoken, informal English: I wanna go to the movies and that’s what I’m gonna do.

SABRINA

ALESSIA

I think that this is a very interesting and instructive approach to learn English, Thank you! My only suggestion is to insert more instructions at the beginning of the questionnaire regarding fill ins.

CHIARA SASSAROLI

MARVIN

In my view the method applied is excellent.

SIMONE

A very interesting method to “open the ears”, as Bob says, and get used to sound of the language. However, I find very difficult to understand all dialogues and I need to listen to it a lot before I feel I understand more words than before.

ANIELLO

“At the Movies with Bob” is a very efficient teaching method that, according to me, does not need to be improved.

STEFANO B.

An amusing method to improve our English, getting used to listen to different accents and enjoying watching good movies. What better?

AMERIGO

In my opinion, “At the Movies with Bob” is a good practice to develop the ability to listen. I suggest to indicate ( for example in the last ten questions where the linguistic traps are hidden) to avoid shifting the focus from listening. The approach BoB uses is stimulating.

FRANCESCO GIGLIOTTI

PAOLO PALAZZI

For my actual level of English comprehension the format of the test and also the blog are perfect. It ‘s a difficult exercise but inspiring. I don’t know how you can improve the test, perhaps I’d change a little the part related the insertion of the words in the sentence. One field for each word or group of words to insert, instead of only one field for all words to insert. It’s more simple to verify and the result would improve. In any case, only if all words inserted are correct should the result be good. Regards Paolo

LUCIA AMOROSI

‘At the Movies with Bob’ is an amusing – but not easy – method to learn English language. In my opinion this teaching system is great. Movies aren’t easy to understand, nevertheless watching films and taking the tests is an opportunity to improve our language comprehension. I have no objections. Thanks Bob!

RITA R.

I really like cinema so English learning through film watching is the best for me! The questions are distributed along the whole film duration so you have to understand almost the entire film. Since the questions cannot cover the entire film dialogues, it could be useful to watch in class (after the film test) the movies parts without questions in order to be able to understand each single word. Thank you!

EMANUELA TAS-I B 1.1

NICOLETTA

EMMA

I didn’t know English al all, now i’m attending an English course with Bob and I’m trying to speak. At cinema with Bob is a very particular and interesting method because to understand both language and culture is very difficult but, as they say, “no pain no gain” thanks a lot Bob.

MAURIZIO MESSINA

Watch and, above all, listen to the films in their original English language helps us discover the accent differences by geographical influences and various ethnic groups. It is not an easy exercise, and often we are tempted to stop. We do not want to disappoint the expectations of ourselves and so we are led to study with a little more sacrifice. As well as in when we proceed, step by step, in the film quiz. It will not be an easy exercise, the climb is steep but in the end successful. For sure.

NELLY REGNIER

RITA CALDARELLA

The comprehension exercise you do with “at the movies with Bob” is really effective. You must pay a special attention to the listening but even more to the modulation and sound of the actors’ voices. The movie test sometimes has in store some tricks (!) as when two sentences seem exactly the same, and you can’t answer without listening to the same passage of the film over again “to seize” all the words and find the correct one!

MARINA G. (C-B2-1)

I think that “at the movies with Bob” is perfect as is.

PATRIZIA

RICCARDO

A very good and interesting teaching method!!!! Big Robert!

BARBARA

I finally learned how to speak real English like a native : imitating the actors! It’s a fun and entertaining way of teaching. Thanks, Bob !

VINCENZO PECCERILLO

“At the Movies with Bob” represents a modern and effective opportunity to practice English. To enhance the exercise, the teacher might ask the students to develop an alternate movie ending.

ANTONINO MASSARI

BERARDINO

Thanks to ‘at the movies with Bob’ I made progress, especially in the comprehension of the language, I find this a very interesting and innovative method. Thanks Robert

QUIRINO

“At the Movies with Bob” is a great method to learn English, it’s a pleasure to study English and Bob makes it easy. I like the approach because the movies always generate pleasant discussions that contribute to improving your knowledge of the language. Just a small remark on the web app; the “free text answer” could be improved: you get a wrong answer simply confusing a comma with a semi-colon or a blank space Still and all, Good Job!

MARCO ZIARELLI

In the past, I attended English courses where I learned only grammatical rules but wasn’t able to take part in a simple discussion; using films as training method I improved my understanding and now I can engage in short simple conversations. Marco Ziarelli

ROBERTO CECCARELLI

For years, I was looking for a method to learn English with a minimum of effort. Bob’s method is not effortless, but, at least, it’s pleasant and invites you to continue. Furthermore, you can continue exercising without the constant need of a teacher. thanks Bob

VINCENZO IACOVONE

My comment will be less 50 words! Bob is a great teacher and a friend. His English training method is very innovative, connecting grammar with the spoken language used by common people. Try it!!!

STELLA MILELLA

Innovative, that’s the adjective that can best resume Robert Balchus’ method to improve my English. I’m so grateful to my best friend who advised me to try it!

RAFFAELE

These last years I studied English in a company course following many interesting movies. “Ratatouille,” for example, is beautiful, important and has a magic about it that captivates viewers. Courage, genius, poverty/wealth are essential components that involve and interest everyone: I like this didactic approach and I think these movies are able not only to create positive social relationships among colleagues, but they also allow me to better my knowledge of English and its culture.
